Interlaken Tourism Office Orientation Stop

Pop into the Interlaken Tourism office on Höheweg 37 to pick up free trail maps, check current Jungfrau Railway snow conditions, and ask staff about which lake beaches are open. They keep family-specific leaflets stocked and can tell you real-time cable car wait times.

Confiserie Schuh

This institution on the Höheweg has been serving families since 1818 and is the single best place in Interlaken to try the region's famous Meringues de la Gruyère piled high with double cream. Grab a window table and let the kids pick a chocolate truffle from the display case while you order coffee.

Lake Brienz Evening Stroll at Interlaken Ost Shore

Walk five minutes east of Interlaken Ost station to reach the turquoise shore of Lake Brienz, where the water glows an almost unreal glacier-blue in late afternoon light. Let kids skip stones and wade in the shallows before heading to dinner.

Grindelwald Snow Fun Park (seasonal)

Kleine Scheidegg Restaurant

Break up the descent at Kleine Scheidegg station and eat lunch at the historic Restaurant Kleine Scheidegg, which has been feeding mountaineers since the 19th century. The rösti and hot chocolate here are genuinely excellent, and the terrace faces straight up at the Eiger North Face.

Airtime Café Lauterbrunnen

This laid-back café in Lauterbrunnen village is popular with paragliders and families alike, serving solid sandwiches, homemade soup, and fresh-pressed juices at fair prices. Trümmelbach Falls

These ten glacier-melt waterfalls are tucked inside a mountain and accessed by a tunnel lift, making them feel like something from a movie set. Children between ages 5 and 14 are almost universally stunned by the roaring cascades and the spray-soaked walkways carved into the rock.

Lauterbrunnen Valley Floor Bike Rental at Imboden Bike

Imboden Bike in Lauterbrunnen rents family bikes and tag-along attachments for smaller children, and the flat valley floor is one of the best easy cycling routes in the Alps. The 8-kilometer paved path through the valley passes waterfalls, barns, and grazing cows with almost no traffic.

Thun Castle (Schloss Thun)

Schloss Thun rises directly above the old town and dates to the 12th century, with a knight's hall and a museum of local history spread across four floors inside the keep. The rooftop battlements give kids a chance to look out over four corner towers and pretend they are defending the whole valley.
